Patricia Low, 'Gilded Silver Thumb Pots' 2019
These beautiful thumb pots by ceramicist Patricia Low exemplify the patterns and colour forms the artist uses inside her larger pots. Low initially trained as a painter and printmaker, however by 1986 she was showed how to hand build pots which she makes by coiling and pinching the clay. Her subject matter is inspired by her countryside surroundings on the Dorset/Wiltshire border. She begins with drawings from life and then watercolour studies on paper. Patricia paints her delicate and dynamic pots by using mostly raw oxides which are monochromatic before firing yet result in a luminous colour. Patricia is represented by the Fine Art Society in London.
