This beautiful printed engraving depicts unqiue shell studies that were examined throughout the 18th Century. During this time, cultivated people sought knowledge of scientific objects and natural history during the Enlightenment period. This print comes from plates from the Histoire Naturelle by Renard and Jules Cesar Savigny published in 1809-1829. The print as recently been reframed to highlight the detailing of the engravings by Douglas McLeod, Salisbury. Perfect to add interest to a bathroom or hallway.
