“I have always found solace in artistic expression. Painting has been a means of escaping reality since I was a child. From an early age, I have been drawn to the darkness of fairy tales and I think it translates into my work. It is infused with a profound melancholy and often explores the theme of lost childhood. I mainly paint what I like to call « secret gardens » and portraits of women imbued with a sense of nostalgia. They often appear as spectral apparitions, present and absent at the same time.Their blurriness echoes the fading of our memories and fantasies as time goes by. Some of my work even verge on abstraction when the vision becomes too distant. They are a dream-like nod to the elusive nature of the human experience.”
